Project Estimate Reporting

BigTime contains a large number of reports, and many of them draw their "budget" data from project estimates. With so many reports and screens, it might be helpful to zero in on a handful that BigTime customers find helpful for reviewing the status of their project estimate budgets.

• Customer-facing Estimate Reports. BigTime can be used to print customer facing estimates that include the budget data you've established for a given project, the project's "note," some basic project facts (e.g. - start date, target/end date, ID, etc.) and a "signature block" for your customer to fill in. Take a look at the Estimate reports to see if there's a format that would work for your firm.
• Budget Status Reporting. If you'd like to print out a summary of hours/charges logged against a particular project (including a breakdown based on your project's estimate), then use the Budget Status Report. That's a "Project Activity" report (called "Budget Items, Single Project"), but it's also a reporting link in the how-do-I panel on your Budget Status screen.
• Estimate Budget Detail (all projects) Report. If you'd like a print out of the detailed budget status that in included on the "Budget Items, Single Project" report for all of your projects, then take a look at the Project Management report called "Estimate Budget Detail (all projects)."
• Project Cost To Date. If you'd like to see a summary of all of your projects and where they stand vs. the estimate budgets you've created, then you can use the Project Costs to Date view on your Management... Project List screen. The budget data on that view gives you a summary of total hours/charges on each of your projects vs. the estimates you've created.

  The Margin (Estimates) view provides ratios based on the estimate budget vs. invoices to date. It's another excellent view for getting a summary snapshot of your estimate budgets.

  • Project Cost to Date Reports. There are two Project Management reports in the system that provide a printed version of the Project Cost to Date view. One of them shows hourly data, and the other shows fee data. Both of them provide a nicely formatted version of the data you see on-screen in the Cost to Date and Margin views.
