Installation

This chapter will walk you through installing BigTime and getting it connected to your accounting system. You can simply insert the setup disk into the computer where BigTime will be installed and follow along with the instructions. There are, however, a number of setup options which your firm may find useful, so skimming this chapter before you begin may be helpful.

We've organized the chapter into a few simple sections, so you can jump right to the information you need. We'll cover a number of specific topics, including:

• BigTime Setup. These sections include information on system requirements and preparing your computer for installation as well as step-by-step installation instructions.
• Connecting BigTime with QuickBooks. We'll walk you through the integration process; we'll help you make sure that your QuickBooks data file is properly cleaned up, and we'll talk about some of the configuration options available to you and where in the system guide you can find more information on how these two systems communicate.
• BigTime's Server Components. Here, we'll outline each of the components that are installed onto your computer when you install BigTime.
